We are still here

Hattie Butterworth

As many organisations go offline for the holidays, TMDTA want you to know that we are still here and send you love in whatever you may be going through

Last year I wrote a blog on my personal site about my past difficulties managing my mental health at Christmas. This year I am in a similarly reflective mood. It’s difficult to emerge from a year punctuated by desperate news stories without feeling aware of those so much worse off. Those dealing with their mental health are especially on my mind.

This blog is mostly to say that we aren’t going to sign off and declare the start of a perfect Christmas on Instagram. I don’t want to isolate people who may be feeling desperate or let go of the memories of feeling lost and alone. When I was struggling, I wished more people had stuck around and been honest about the dreadful and life-altering emotions that Christmas can create.

Resources

We still have all our free resources pages available for anyone who may be struggling. Our podcasts now span most mental health experiences and we hope they may be able to help you or someone you know who might need to feel a bit less alone.

Today (Christmas Eve) Becca and I did an honest Christmas chat on Instagram Live. It’s about half and hour and you can watch it here. We spoke about eating disorders, panic, overwhelm, dissociation, practice and suicidal thoughts over Christmas.

Be as kind to yourself as possible and remember that you are so loved in whatever you may be going through this time of year. Sending all our love!
